Exact Boarding Location

Our boarding point is located on the waterfront directly in front of Amsterdam Central Station. Look for the Mokumboot sign on the waterfront, between the tram tracks and the canal. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before departure. This gives you enough time to find the dock, check in and choose a comfortable seat on board. How to Reach Our Boarding Location

Amsterdam Central Station is one of the best-connected transport hubs in the Netherlands. Whether you’re arriving from the airport, your hotel or another city, getting to our departure point is straightforward.

From Schiphol Airport

Travelling from Schiphol Airport takes around 15 to 20 minutes by direct train. Trains run frequently throughout the day and arrive at Amsterdam Central Station. Once you leave the station, our boarding location is only a short walk away.

By Train, Tram or Metro

Amsterdam Central Station is easy to reach by train, tram and metro. If you arrive by train or metro, leave the station through the main south exit, facing the city centre. From there, the boarding point is directly in front of you at the waterfront.

Travelling by tram? Depending on your route, your tram may stop on the city centre side or the IJ waterfront side of the station. If you get off on the city centre side, you are already on the right side and only need to walk about 1 minute towards the canal. If you arrive on the IJ side, walk through or around the station to the city centre side first. Then head towards the canal and look for the Mokumboot sign on the waterfront.

By Bicycle

Cycling is one of the easiest ways to get around Amsterdam. Several bicycle parking facilities are available around Central Station, making it easy to combine your bike ride with a canal cruise.

By Car

Although public transport is recommended, you can also arrive by car. Nearby parking options include:

  • Q-Park Amsterdam Centraal
  • P1 Parking Amsterdam Centraal
  • IJDock Parking Garage

Please note that parking in central Amsterdam can be expensive and availability may be limited during busy periods.

What to Expect During Your Canal Cruise

Once you’re on board, all you need to do is sit back and enjoy Amsterdam from the water.

Our comfortable boats take you through the city’s most famous canals, offering a unique perspective on centuries of history, architecture and local life. You’ll pass iconic locations such as the Herengracht, Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht and the famous Skinny Bridge.

Live Local Guide

Unlike standard audio tours, our cruises are guided by local skippers who share stories, history and insider tips about Amsterdam in English and Dutch.

Open Boats with Weather Protection

We cruise on comfortable open boats that provide unobstructed views of the city. If the weather changes, the boats can be covered to keep you warm and dry while you continue enjoying the experience.

Book in Advance

While walk-in guests are welcome when space is available, advance booking is recommended, especially during weekends, holidays and the summer season. Our most popular departures often sell out in advance.

Accessibility

Please note that passengers need to step into the boat independently. Due to the design of Amsterdam canal boats, our public canal cruises are currently not wheelchair accessible.

Why Travellers Enjoy Cruising with Mokumboot

A canal cruise is one of the most popular ways to experience Amsterdam, but the atmosphere on board can make all the difference. At Mokumboot, you’ll cruise on comfortable electric boats that glide quietly through the canals, allowing you to enjoy the city without engine noise. Our local skippers share stories and insights about Amsterdam while keeping the experience relaxed and personal. Because we focus on small-scale experiences rather than large tourist boats, you’ll enjoy a more intimate way to discover the city. Whether it’s your first visit to Amsterdam or you’re returning to explore more, a canal cruise offers a unique perspective that you simply can’t experience from the streets.
