Are you planning to head out on the water with a group of 25 in Amsterdam? Then you want a boat where everyone can sit comfortably, enjoy the view and share the moment together. Plenty of space, a relaxed atmosphere and no hassle about directions or timing. Just step on board, open a drink and let the city unfold around you.
With Mokumboot, you choose the experience that suits your group. Go for a private boat tour with your own skipper and enjoy the freedom of a trip tailored to your wishes. Prefer to join a regular canal cruise? That is possible too, depending on your plans. Either way, you share the boat with your own group and spend real time together on the water.
Always a private boat with a skipper
When you charter a boat for 25 people with Mokumboot, the entire vessel is yours. No other guests on board, just your own group and a dedicated skipper who guides you through the city. You decide what kind of atmosphere you are after, and we adjust the route accordingly. From lively stretches of the canal belt to quieter waterways, everything revolves around your preferences. Our boats can host groups of up to 35 people, which means that with 25 guests you enjoy generous space and comfortable seating. You can move around easily, settle down together with a drink and truly relax. Whether you are planning a celebration, team outing or family gathering, the setting feels open and unhurried.
Your skipper does more than steer the boat. They welcome you on board, keep the cruise running smoothly and share engaging stories along the way. In Dutch or English, they bring the canals, bridges and historic façades to life with insights that add meaning to what you see. That way, you experience not only a relaxing time on the water, but also the character and history of Amsterdam itself.
The route during your cruise
During your private cruise with 25 people, Amsterdam reveals itself at its own pace. You glide past well-known landmarks such as the Magere Brug, the elegant Royal Theatre Carré and the beautiful façades along the Prinsengracht. Along the way, you take in the atmosphere of the historic canal belt, with its leaning townhouses and arched bridges reflected in the water.
At the same time, your skipper steers towards quieter canals where the city feels calm and almost intimate. Here, you experience a different side of Amsterdam. Less busy, more local, and perfect for relaxed conversations on board while the boat moves gently through the water.
Because you sail privately, there is no fixed route. If something catches your eye and you would like to linger a little longer, simply let your skipper know. Curious about the Jordaan? Prefer a stretch along the Amstel? Within your booked time, the route is shaped around your wishes. That way, the cruise truly becomes your own Amsterdam story.
How long would you like to sail?
Every day, our boats leave from our central jetty between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. That gives you the freedom to choose the moment that suits your group best. Prefer a calm start in the morning, when the canals are still quiet and the city slowly wakes up? Or would you rather step on board in the evening, when the light softens and Amsterdam glows in a warm, golden haze? There is always a time slot that fits your plans.
With 25 people, you decide how long you want to be on the water:
- 2 hours
- 2.5 hours
- 3 hours
A 2-hour cruise is perfect if you want to see the most famous canals and highlights in a relaxed way. You sail past iconic spots and get a complete impression of the historic centre, without feeling rushed. It is an ideal option if you are combining the cruise with dinner, drinks or another activity in the city.
If you select 2.5 or 3 hours, you create more space in your programme. More time to raise a glass together, to explore a specific neighbourhood such as the Jordaan, or to enjoy a longer stretch along the Amstel. The extra time allows for a calmer pace and a route that goes beyond the well-known highlights. Before departure, we discuss your wishes so that the itinerary matches your group and you make the most of every minute on board.
Is your group flexible and looking for a shorter experience? Then joining one of our regular cruises can also be a good fit. Would you rather have the boat entirely to yourselves, with your own skipper and a route tailored to your plans? In that case, a private cruise offers exactly the comfort, freedom and personal touch you are looking for.

Great trip, and thanks to Romeo's tips—he took plenty of time to explain everything in detail—it was a wonderful experience. It was cool that the boats are small and you can steer them yourself and choose your own route.
